Elizabeth Borghero studied painting at the Queensland Institute of Technology. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts [Sculpture] from The National Art School, Sydney and an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics from Gymea TAFE.

Along with the more traditional mediums of oil paint and clay, Borghero also works with natural and recycled materials such as twigs, leaves, sand, wood and recycled cans. She manipulates these materials to construct fluid, textural, abstract landscapes that explore the mesmerizing world of the patterns and processes of nature.

The use of encaustic paint enables her to work intuitively, building up and scraping back layers to reveal hidden textures and subtle details. The tactile nature of the material mirrors the dynamic forces of nature itself - creation, erosion and renewal. The process is both personal and a dialogue with the land as each piece emerges organically, shaped by its own energy and the stories it seeks to tell.

Borghero’s work invites viewers to pause and reflect on their own connection to the natural world. Her intention is to inspire a deeper appreciation of the fragile beauty of these environments and the importance of preserving them for future generations.
