Beginning life in 2003, ZUKO Ceramics Studio was founded by Yoshikatsu Matsufuji.
ZUKO (short for ‘Zuga Kosaku’) takes its playful name from the traditional art & craft class taught throughout Japan’s elementary schools. This spirit infuses all of Yoshi's work. Each bespoke piece is individually handmade in Bundeena using Australian clay and unique Japanese glazes. No two items are ever identical. From large and small cups & mugs, plates & bowls, platters, pots and vases; from single one-off pieces to large matching sets, ZUKO’s work is functional, durable and collectible.
ZUKO has become a permanent fixture at Kirribilli’s Art & Design Market and his unique sippy travel cups & mugs, which promote sustainability are instantly recognisable. With over 20 years as a working ceramicist Yoshi has created bespoke ceramic pieces for some of Sydney’s favourite cafes, retail shops and galleries. This passion extends to the Bundeena Art Trail as Yoshi looks forward to sharing the inner workings of his functional Japanese studio.
