Elizabeth Morrissey Tarrant         Studio 13

I have had a lifelong interest in all things fibre and fabric which has led me to developing a self taught art practice in which I construct the way fibre can be woven, manipulated, twined, or coiled to result in unusual pieces.

I love to work sculptural pieces of movement and form, and experiment, so my style can change with my choice of fibre.  The story of each piece signifies my physical and emotional intentions and I draw the inspiration from my surrounds and life experiences.

The woven pieces and vessels incorporate a mix of natural and recycled materials, found and discarded objects, paper, seed pods and fibre.   The fibres used include cotton, linen, merino, hemp, jute and natural fibres from my garden and surrounds.  At the moment I am also enjoying adding other elements and various hardeners to some pieces to give another dimension to the fibre.

The opportunity to continue to create has been ignited and I am looking forward to seeing what eventuates with my practice.

Having a long history and connection to this beautiful area surrounded by the ocean and the Royal National Park, and as a self taught fibre artist, I feel privileged to live and play in the seaside community of Bundeena.
