| Kerry Richardson, a former high school teacher, was born in Perth Western Australia. In April 2007 she moved to Bundeena to become a permanent resident and to follow her dream of pursuing her love of painting. From 1978 to 2003 Kerry attended several Adult Art Courses in Western Australia studying ceramics, still life drawing and water colour. It was through these courses she discovered a talent and developed a desire to seriously explore her own creative potential. Kerry enrolled with Alpha Studios in Western Australia where under the instruction of John Baldock she studied the processes involved in the application of inner imagery. Kerry was a student of John Baldock until early 2006 and from then until leaving for Bundeena she worked from her home studio. Adult Art Weekend courses conducted by Kerry were particularly well received and appreciated by artists who had become too structured while others were delighted to be given an avenue to express their creativity on canvas for the first time. Kerry also tutored private students from her home studio. Kerry has developed her method of application of materials through research, experimentation and intuition. She uses various forms of media with a variety of layers. Primarily she uses an acrylic base with the inclusion of water colour and other resources to create textural forms. Brushes, palette knives or items found either in the home or bush are just some of the tools Kerry uses to apply paint and material. In the main, through her latter years, Kerry has been guided as she responds to the truth illustrated by her works and creative / thought processes. Clarity and images within her works evolve as she allows her thought processes to take over. Her journey becomes transparent as you see the dark, light, pensive and humorous side of her life depicted in many of her works. |
