| Julie Mellae has
spent over twenty years in Graphic design, advertising and commercial
photography for high profile food, fashion and retail clients. For Julie, glass design became a natural progression of the ‘arts’ over time. The journey began with mosaics which include balustrades, installations and quirky interior applications on a wide range of surfaces. A few years later, mosaics evolved into the technically challenging and extremely creative techniques of kiln formed glass. Not shy of bold, contrasting colour, Julie’s studio is alive with colour and textures that have to date, become her signature. Her pieces are functional yet contemporary as they are unique. Julie’s commissions have included brightly designed dinnerware, fused windows, decorative panels and wall murals most of which have colourful lashings of dichroics glass – the most expensive glass in the world. For even more depth and dimension irridised glasses are also used in abundance. In the past year, Julie has been creating unique, one of a kind jewellery pieces to add to her wide range. These gorgeous pieces of glass art include glamorous pendants, earrings, bracelets and bangles. Julie receives enquiries from all over the world and supplies art galleries and fashion designers both nationally and internationally. |
