John was an athlete
who has won state and Australian titles as a sprinter. He came to
sculpting through a love of wood, which developed whilst building his
home. John sourced old wooden doors, windows stair parts — anything
that
interested him and taught himself how to restore, carve and create.
He began tentatively as a wood sculptor moving from the functional to flowing wood forms, which enhance natures’ design. His work is very tactile and invites the viewer to touch and explore, each piece having it’s own magic to explore. John has work on display at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery |
